Day 354
I have not been participating in Ballet this fall (something I didn't know how desperately I missed until tonight..) so imagine my amazement to see Alexa, who I had danced with last year, on pointe! She just started last year with us... a very quiet, very hard worker. She just got her pointe shoes LAST WEEK... and here she is doing an arabesque on pointe, a move that is incredibly difficult. !! My heart swelled with "cool aunt" pride.. (the title they had bestowed me last year.... ) Never stop dreaming people.. never stop striving and attempting something new... you may just surprise yourself and you will surely amaze others!

Day 234
The Dancer believes that his art has something to say which cannot be expressed in words or in any other way than by dancing.

Day 159
She heads into her Senior year of High School, having danced since she was 3.
I, like her, headed into my Senior Year having skated since I was 3.
After graduation, maybe she will continue to dance, or she may never tie on a pair of pointe shoes again.
I do know the discipline and lessons she has learned in all of those practices and performances will follow her for the rest of her life.

Day 139
The aftermath of opening night.
The ballet production of The Girl With The Yellow Umbrella was not without its hiccups, but it was an overall success.
To see something, that has been in the works since last fall, come to life in front of an audience filled my heart with so much joy.
I am overwhelmed with happiness, gratitude and amazement.
And we get to do it again tomorrow!!

Day 119
Another day, another 265 photos shot.
This is the 3rd year I have done ballet photos and these sessions are some of my most favorite to shoot.
Movement and art collide, and sometimes I am lucky enough to capture it.
These sisters are a dynamic duo and have an ability to drop into character that is rare to see at their age.

Day 114
The first year teen (tween) ballet group.
Full of drive, passion, humor and more skill than you can imagine.
I love these ladies.

Day 111
I was all set to post an amazing fog photo today,
Until THIS happened.
Sometimes I know I've captured magic.
The lighting and the subject collide, and I KNOW I've caught something amazing.
This happened several times this evening with "my girls."
These
(young enough to be my daughters)
dancers are athletes, don't doubt for a second that they are not.
They are dedicated, strong young women I am lucky enough to share the floor with.
Thanks Ladies, for everything!
