Day 36
It started to snow... again.
We are in the depths of the dirty, gray dismal part of winter. I had to really look today to find something beautiful about the again-falling snow that was landing on already ice-covered everything. I found this. There was simple beauty in the delicacy of the light snow on the featherweight dried leaf. I had to go look for the beauty among the bleak today, but was so glad I did.

Day 35
I was looking through a button box as I was working on costumes, a treasure box of sorts, that had belonged to my Mom. She kept everything related to sewing, because who knew when she would need it. As I went through the bits and baubles, I found several cuff-links. The immaculate details of these small items was astounding. At times, Iwish I lived in that time, where details and craftsmanship were everything; things were not disposable but handcrafted. A time when there were not 52 fashion seasons a year and design and quality were standard.

Day 34
One thing I have come to learn as I ageis that every morning is a new day. It is a fresh start and an opportunity to create whatever life I desire. I have learned that sometimes I have to persevere the dark night, in order to see that light of the sunrise. Things always look better with a little sunlight.

Day 33
Bill.
He thinks he is human. He really doesn't understand why he is forced to live outside when there is perfectly good corn chips inside the house. A fan of carrots, brussel sprouts and corn nuts.... but forget asparagus. He will have nothing to do with it.
Livestock's ability to withstand the cold truly amazes me. They put on a dense and incredibly soft undercoat.... seems to work a lot better than a thick skin. That probably goes the same for all of us.

Day 32
After dropping kids of at school, I took a drive in silence... because it was finally silent. The sky was clear, the air very frigid and the sun was bright. I drove up a hill and the flashes of gold caught my eye.
The sun illuminated the heads of the wild grass. They swayed, aglow in the new day's warm light. There was so much warmth in that moment despite the depth of winter that persists.

Day 31
He insisted on being outside, while we waited.
As I sat freezing in the vehicle he climbed out and around the snowbanks. He found a stick and was then on a mission which was only known to him. His cold endurance amazes me and his ability to entertain himself makes me smile... He is definitely the 3rd child.

Day 30
I was just ahead of the front...
As I drove to Fargo, I was just ahead of the front. As I looked out my window I could see the drab grayness slowly starting to engulf the vivid blue sky. The contrast in the sky forced me to pull over and snap this image. To see nature and weather in action always forces me to pause. It is one force that will always be stronger than I.
