Day 57
I craved simplicity this evening as I went out to shoot.
The solitary bare tree against the cold white sky was exactly what I needed. Beauty is discovered in the modesty of black and white. Strength is found the absence of chaos and discord.

Day 56
At the end of every day, that what matters is not the to-do lists that are checked off, the money that is made, or the material things we have acquired.
What matters as the sun sets is the character we have shown, the love and laughter we have shared and the experiences we have gained.

Day 55
Cleansed in Technicolor.
I was tired of being filthy every time I touched our vehicle so I took it to the car-wash.
There I found beauty in the most unlikely place.

Day 54
I noticed this single apple about a month ago as I wandered our apple trees. Today I was out walking and was shocked to find it still remains.
Day by day, through rain, snow and wind, it has hung on. It has survived hungry deer and birds.
It has held on for one more day.

Day 53
The snow started to fall again today. Big fluffy snowflakes fell, covering everything with a fresh downy blanket.
It is a single fallen snowflake. The clear elaborate crystals combine to make a large white flake. Like us, no two flakes are alike. Like us, single things combined together create a large thing of beauty.

Day 52
He was carrying something gingerly in his hand as he approached me after school. I was wondering what piece of trash he had picked up and was preserving.
"Mom! It's a nest!" (I so miss him calling them "mests"....)
His tiny hands held it up for me to inspect. It was a small nest, woven from hair, fur, fiber, grass and whatever supplies the birds had deemed useful. Discarded and spent odds and ends were beautifully and delicately interwoven into the coziest of living spaces. Their ability to use what they can find, to build what they need to build, amazes me. What we could learn from the birds.

Day 51
When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving inside you, a Joy. --Rumi
I have found that by doing what my soul calls me to do, I have found true joy.
