Day 154

Day 154

Candles are lit for countries during the Healing of the Nations Service at the 2017 Eastern North Dakota Synod Assembly of the ELCA.

Today has been incredibly emotional for me, learning of God's work that is being done in Eastern North Dakota as well as throughout the world.

I have shed tears more than a few times today. Tears of gratefulness, tears of sadness. Tears of hope.

The Holy Spirit was very much in this place today, of that, I am certain.

Day 151

Day 151

Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom was a ritual in our house growing up.  Sunday evenings, Marlin Perkins took us on animal adventures all around the world.

Tonight our yard was our own wild kingdom. Here our prairie panther stalked a young Grackle, after the poor bird had been dropped from the talons of a hawk who had attacked its nest.  In this image, they are both looking at the surrounding trees as the flock of Grackles screamed at them.

The stalking was interrupted by a big dopey dog who thought the bird was a snack, but then dropped it and batted it around.  Upon last inspection, it was breathing sighs of relief on a branch I had set it upon....

It is never a dull moment around here.

Day 150

Day 150

About 6 years ago, a friend I have never met (yes you can have people in your life like that) sent me some Columbine seeds after finding one rogue columbine flower blooming in my garden; I knew not what it was.

I threw them about my garden and waited.  Nothing.

I waited. Still nothing.  I pretty much forgot about them.

Then, today, there they were. A variety of colors and as amazing as a Columbine can be.  It's a flower of futuristic design.

They are a reminder to not give up on things... they are just waiting for the right timing.
