Day 169
The High Line Bridge at sunset.
Firmly standing 162 feet above the river, it has carried trains on its track since 1908. Its importance in moving men and supplies across the country warranted military protection in both World Wars. It remains on of the longest and highest single track bridges in the nation.
It is the backdrop of this town I call home.

Day 168
The cars of these days were things of beauty.
Style and design.
Details.
Works of art on wheels.

Day 167
Art Deco
It is my favorite design style.
I was in heaven in NYC with so many buildings teaming with this time period.
One of my favorites was Rockefeller center.
Opulence.
Detailing.
Glamorous touches.
It had it all.
Elaborate Mosaic Tiling

Day 166
St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever experienced. Exquisite detailing lies on almost every inch of this beautiful building. The architecture in this city could have me busy photographing for days. So much beauty, so little time.

Day 165
New Colossus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
Emma Lazarus
I have learned so much thus far.. Like Lady Liberty doesn't reside on Ellis Island, like I always had thought. And, this poem was originally written as a fundraiser auction item and was essentially forgotten for many years and had nothing to do with her originally being built.

Day 164
America outside Lincoln Center.
NYC
I walked out from seeing the most amazing ballet production at the Metropolitan at Lincoln Center. Silhouetted against the fountains were a mix of individuals.
This city is such an amazing mixture of people.
I can't wait to explore more!

Day 163
The lazy unstructured days of summer look like this, around here. I looked out the window to see her reading on the tramp, her brother climbing all over the swing-set. We intentionally don't have a lot planned this summer. It is a time to rest and just be, for them and for us.
