Day 343

Day 343

Sorry, but not sorry, you are getting another Bald Eagle photo.

When I was young, Bald Eagles were headed the way of the Dodo Bird and the Tasmanian Tiger.  I NEVER saw them anywhere other than in a zoo.

So, nowadays, I get a little gaga over the ability to see them a short distance from my home.

Majestic.

Fierce and beautiful.

I could honestly watch them for hours.

Day 342

Day 342

Two days ago, as I pulled out of my driveway, I thought I saw a flash of white on a large bird disappearing into the trees by the river.

I drove into town today and as I crossed the bridge, I thought I saw a Turkey Vulture on the partially frozen river.  Disappointed it wasn't a Bald Eagle, I still whipped an U-turn, hit my hazard lights, grabbed my camera and fired off some shots.  Through the zoom lens I realized it was in fact a Baldy!

I loaded the images up to edit them, and imagine my surprise to realize that there were in fact TWO of them in the image!  Zooming in 400%, I can see the distant eagle is eating something... a hunk of meat with an exposed bone.  The front one stands guard.

Today was a fabulous day to be intentfully watchful, with a camera ready!

Dinner on the bone....

Day 341

Day 341

I have mentioned before, my love for our thrift stores in our town.  Combine that with my love of details on items of a time gone by, you can imagine my joy as I wandered by this beauty today!  Straight out of the mid 50's, it is similar in styling to two other lamps we have in our home.  I love the details that went into things of this generation, from the wrapped, tiered shade, to the gold flaked porcelain mid-piece.  It was a good day of thrifting today...

Day 340

When you hang around the Church long enough, like I have in the last year, you learn some of the cool hidden secrets, like this inlaid gem.

Hidden treasures in the most unlikely places.

Always be on the lookout for them...

Day 339

Day 339

As much as I dislike the cold, I love the patterns created in the snow.

The designs created by the wind, in the untouched snow, are truly amazing.

Reminiscent of sand dunes or sandstone cliffs, but far less permanent.

Tomorrow they will be disrupted by the hooves of deer or paws of a dog.

Day 338

Day 338

And so it begins...

The black and white days of winter have arrived.

There is such a beauty in the snow adorned trees.

I leave you with this:

"Kindness is like snow- It beautifies everything it covers."

-Kahlil Gibran
