Day 351

Day 351

At almost dusk, I asked my Hubby if he would take a drive with me to see if we could find something to photograph.  As we drove down an rural road, some deer darted across the road, and as I prepped my camera, a buck popped up out of the ditch and ran across the road. I got only one shot fired off, and it was all I needed today.  I love being at the right place at the right time!

but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy."

Day 349

Day 349

"Creativity embeds knowledge so that it can become practice. We move what we're learning from our heads to our hearts through our hands. We are born makers, and creativity is the ultimate act of integration—it is how we fold our experiences into our being." - Brene Brown

This is the quilt my ill son has been curled up in all week. It is about 33 years old.  As I tucked it around him today, I asked, "Do you know who made this quilt?" "Your Mom?" he answered. I nodded  "yes."

Moments later, I received a message from my dear friend, Denise, who I share a 25+ year friendship with.  The message said: Many years ago I spent the night at your home and slept under the most amazing heavy, comforting, denim quilt your mom made. After several years of collecting I’m making some for my kiddos. While nothing replaces her presence on earth-her legacy is everywhere!!! Thinking of you often and today especially!"

I broke into tears, messaging her a photo of my son curled up under the quilt. "That's the one!" she replied. I told her, Mom's secret was not using batting inside the quilt, but rather an old blanket inside and that is why they were so heavy and wonderful.

It was not lost on me that this exchange happened the morning of December 15th, the day she died, 14 years ago.

My Mother was wonderfully creative and resourceful. It lingers on today, through many people she met.  She lives on through my daughter and myself.  I miss her dearly, but today I am so grateful she reached out to me, through and old friend, and continues to encourage me.  I love you Mom and Miss you SO incredibly much....

Day 348

Day 348

She loves to perform, but gets so incredibly nervous to do it.  I am so proud of this little lady and the dreams she has for herself.  Dream big, little one.  The sky is the limit for you! And Mommy will always be there to be your cheerleader!!

Day 346

Day 346

My youngest and I have spent the majority of the day on the couch, both under the weather.  We have had a several very good furry nurses.  Gravy (because she is gray...) is such a sweetheart, cuddled up between us, giving us love. Now if she only knew how to make some soup....

Day 345

Day 345

Up on the sketch pad is a "maid-a-milking" dress...

Do I HAVE to make it? Nope.

Would I much rather do that than housework? Yup.

If you need me, I'll be here transforming some old shirts into a dress and avoiding the dishes in my sink...
