Day 260

Day 260

I love this family! They were some of the first neighbors we met when we moved here in '09.  Their son likes my cooking better than my own kids, and their daughter is always willing to help me out in a pinch.  Mom and Dad are the best kind of people! The kind that helps run kids and rescue wandering toddlers when they make their way across the road.  We are so incredibly lucky to have them as friends and neighbors and I was honored to capture their family photos tonight!

Day 259

Day 259

My Pastor shared these words with me a while ago, and they seem perfect for this image I caught this evening.

"The Autumn leaves can dazzle us with their magnificent colors: deep red, purple, yellow, gold, bronze, in countless variations and combinations. Then, shortly after having shown their unspeakable beauty, they fall to the ground and die. The barren trees remind us that winter is near. Likewise, the autumn of life has the potential to be very colorful: wisdom, humor, care, patience and joy may bloom splendidly just before we fall to the ground and die. As we look at the barren trees and remember our dead, let us be grateful for the beauty we saw in them and wait hopefully for a new spring."

Day 257

Day 257

There is homework yet to be done, after a full day of school and a football game played, and another one watched.  It has been an exhausting transition into the world of Junior High and being 13.  He is tired, hungry, sore, and and battling a cold.  He is a kid that needs his down-time, and I am going to have to be cognizant about ensuring he gets some, to avoid meltdowns hitting an emotional wall, like this week has brought.  Teenaging is tough.

Day 256

Day 256

I spent some time in the elementary school today.  I love children's drawings.  I could look at them all day long.  Children are not yet jaded to feeling the need to please or avoid criticism.  Children create for creations sake.  They do not create to impress or be judged, but purely for the joy.  Children have creativity figured out.

Day 255

Senior Lexi Ondracek dives deep to return a volley in a hard-fought match against Davies.  These lady Hi-Liners played hard and kept us all on the edge of our seats until the final point, losing by just a few in the 5th game.  It was SO much fun to watch them play! This team is a well oiled machine!!

Day 254

Day 254

I had the wonderful opportunity to photo-document the 1st annual "Dinner in the Valley" tonight. It brought together local farmers and community members to share a meal created from local produce and encourage discussion regarding agriculture and its struggles and its future. It was a wonderful meal in an absolute beautiful setting, at the Riverbend Farm. Thank you to the Valley City Chamber for this opportunity!
