Day 162
Growing up, we had peonies in our yard, this exact shade of pink. My Mom would let me cut some and put in a vase on the kitchen table. Inevitably, the ants would crawl out of them. She never really got too excited or fussy about them exiting the flowers, all over her table. She just dealt with the chaos, as any mom with 5 children would; she rolled with it. When my peonies bloom, I always think of Mom, and the ants.

Day 161
Looking at him was like looking back in time.
His tail looked like a stegposaurus and his claws were frightening.
I took comfort knowing I was bigger... and faster!

Day 160
Storms remind me of young love.
Fleeting, dynamic and intensely chaotic.
Simultaneously dangerous and beautiful.
They are usually short lived, but the stories of them can last for years.

Day 159
She heads into her Senior year of High School, having danced since she was 3.
I, like her, headed into my Senior Year having skated since I was 3.
After graduation, maybe she will continue to dance, or she may never tie on a pair of pointe shoes again.
I do know the discipline and lessons she has learned in all of those practices and performances will follow her for the rest of her life.

Day 158
You may get tired of sunset photos, but I am not going to apologize.
There is something magical about that very short moment when the sun drops just below the horizon and a beautiful star appears.
I love capturing this very brief but gorgeous moment.

Day 157
Generations.
She is so fortunate to be able to celebrate with not only her family and grandparents but also her great-grandfather.
With him at 104, these days are quite special.

Day 156
I did a newborn shoot today.
I forget how tiny we come into this world.
Innocent, fragile, and perfect.
