Day 176
Though he has had his pilots license over 20 years, life and med school and babies put the brakes on my Hubby flying much. But recently, he has started flying again, and we end up in some off-the-beaten-path places, like this hangar in Wall, SD.
Dave, the experienced airport manager (who I Googled and found was at one time the Mayor) was incredibly kind and arrived on a 1970's motorcycle to fuel the plane. He and my Dave chatted aviation as I wandered and noticed his meticulously organized hangar. The wall was filled with every screw, nut, washer and do-dad that could ever be needed, for probably any era plane.
The aviation community is amazing... when Dave apologized for not accepting credit cards for fuel, he just suggested we mail him a check. This was after giving us a couple of free flashlights and advice on his choice of a 6-seated plane. The people involved in these small operations are always more than willing to help out, give a ride or tell you where to find the best food in town.

Day 175
She is being a goofball after getting ice cream.
We are walking the streets of the small town in South Dakota that hold so many dear memories for her father.
He brings the kids back here often, to the a place that helped shape who he is today.

Day 174
Petrified wood. A tree's existence turned into rock. These tree's stories remain forever, as other decayed away. What an interesting phenomenon that nature created. The details, lines, and injuries of the trees still visible, thousands of years later. What from our time will still remain in a thousand years?

Day 173
The Sentry.
He is always by us, watching and waiting.
We haven't had him a year, and yet I couldn't imagine life without him.
Rescue a pet. Trust me. They are so full of love.

Day 172
Rosa arkansana, but known around these parts as the Prairie Rose, North Dakota's State Flower.
The wind has really beaten the ones growing in the pasture, yet for their fragility, they endure. Endurance... it is a North Dakotan trait.

Day 171
I sat by the river with Murphy, my dog, waiting for the sun to dip behind the trees. The golden light spilled over the trees and the river. The blue sky splattered with wispy white clouds. It was the perfect end to a wonderful summer day.

Day 170
The storm had passed, leaving calm waters and blue skies in its wake.
Sometimes, it is hard to remember that the wind and rain will not last forever, but it won't.
The serene calm that comes after is a time of the great beauty.
